Oh joy, got to play with some motocycle cops (they just setup), and had a go trying once again the difference between Ka superwide and Ka accusweap/usa mode or what ever you want to call it.
Anyways was able to make a couple of test runs, over and over, and as far as real world, there was moderate to heavy traffic, a slight bend here and there, even a small hill (bridge), the officers visual targeting distance (being able to distinguish what they are shooting at) was limited at best to 1/3 of a mile do to their setup in the median. Hidden by a row of giant royal palms all the way up and down the street. Not to mention a small roadway and a good amount of traffic. At travel speed, PSL was 35, but even traveling at 45 you had pleanty of time to brake. Especialy due to the curves in the road.
Range was nothing spectacular, but considering real world, and even a small hill (bridge), you can not tell but its there, just in front of me when I recieved the alert, you can not complain, granted if you have a newer Bel you stand to even get alittle more. And yes, this was ConstantOn (best case cenerio), InstantOn would have proven alittle tricky.
After several runs comparing Ka superwide to accusweep, they were all the same in this environment, sometimes one would alert literaly 20, 40 feet before the other, but then repeating the runs, the data would reverse and the other mode would take the lead by 20, 40 feet One mode did not prove consistant over the other.
During all of this tech mode varied from 34.74, averaged around 34.75, and even spiked as high as 34.81 (when I was traveling back away from the source to restart a new run), I was getting bouces from the oncomming traffic. Note the 34.81 was while in Ka superwide mode, again a great example how Ka accusweep mode would miss this because it was out of the freq range of Ka narrow.
