Default Possible to make your own RX65 Power Supply

I jusr ordered an RX65 and exepct it in the next few days.

I'd like to make some hard-wired connections and don't really need the "smart" stuff. Can I just get an RJ-11 connector (telephone plug) and hook up the ground and power to a swtiched 12V source?

No you will need the Direct wire to get it to get the power.

No, you can just wire a telephone cord. The power is either the inside two or the outside two... can't remember offhand, however it is the same setup as the Valentine One. You can search google for "valentine hardwire" and you'll be set. make sure to put a fuse in the circuit!

    Two more questions:

If I have it direct wired to a switched power source, will I have to hit the RX65 power button or will it power up automatically when it gets 12V?

And how much current foes the RX65 draw - how large a fuse?

As far as the wiring pattern, look at the cord that comes with it. The Red is the +12 and the green is the ground. The detector will go on and off with the car as long as you don't use the power switch on the detector itself.
