The V1 looks for certain 3rd order X band harmonics that fall into the Ka band. When those are present, the source is likely a LO from a leaky Crapra or Uniden and the alert is suppressed. POP detection makes it more complicated. In POP mode you don't necessarily want to suppress short alerts, so certain short alerts are reported and later "J'ed out" if the harmonics are found. BTW Valentine has a patent on it's false alarm guard.

All I know is from my v985 manual. It seems that no one has a clear understanding of the newer Beltronic becuase as you know, the manual sucks, trying to even call and asking Bel one is greeted by a operator scratching there head not even knowing themselves. I would love to see a STi manual and see how that is printed up. It seems as though I can trust what my manual says, but even I know that they can easily be misprinted.

I think USA mode might have been somewhat of a filtering effort, only scanning a total of 600MHz of the Ka band, but it really had the opposite effect, enabling USA mode raises sensitivity to those 600MHz so much, more junk detectors are picked up.

    Well, I have owned an X50, RX65 and a V1...

The Belscorts Ka band filtering is superb. I never once got a Ka false. I would get 1-2 POP falses a day with POP enabled on the X50, but no POP falses at all in INTL mode on the RX65 (USA mode, once in a blue moon).

The V1 definitely seems to be more sensitive to Ka and/or has filtering not quite as good as the Belscorts. I get occasional Ka falses, J Ka falses with POP enabled, and occasional J Ka falses with POP disabled.

The Belscorts have Ka filtering down.

Nicely put, Bel seems as though they have it down great out of the box, although I know GTO at least and others have said their Bels false on Ka every once so often (if I am summerizing correctly), I dont even get a false from my friends Crapra parked next to me. :?

So then why do the bells false like crazy over here on ka? Really they do.
Dont get this wrong they are good radar detectors it's the Ka false's that get me. So i asked what have the done about it? Do they filter Ka at all?

I used all top 3 RD's and the belscort(RX65,X50) do better filtering in Ka band than the V1 except for the STI model. I have the Rev2M8 version and falses a lot with other RD's and had to return it. The newer version is out Rev3M8 and may be better but i have to wait until Bel fixes the problem. Your statement seems to be generalized and should be more specific as far as model is concern because most top belscort models generally don't false much with Ka band.
