Default Better above rear plate or next to tow hook? Thanks

    Hi Guys,

They have started trapping from the rear in South Africa using laser camera, so I want to move a sensor on the M40 to the back of my truck. Not sure whether to place above the #plate, which will be more difficult, or will it work 100% to the right of the tow bar. Not sure of the tow bar may block its line of sight? If they sit on the side of the road and aim at the plate, will the sensore be blocked by the tow bar, or not.
I have a pic, but dont know how to post it here...
    Thanks, Bruce[/img]

above the plate would be my first choice.

imageshack or some other free place will host the pics for you, then you can show us a few for a better answer.

i think down by the tow bar will be too low, and if they shoot up at all, they'll get you.

let's see the pic though first.

I have an Expedition and after talking with Radar Roy, Leon from Blinder, and this forum, the unanimous opinion was that it won't help at all to move 1 blinder to the back. Just like you, I was thinking 3 on front and 1 on back. Even though I have the perfect place for it flush above the back plate (and laser shield on the plate), I was screwed anyway. Put all 4 up front and come up with something else for the back. It is a large area and difficult to cover because of mounting limitations. If its camera only from the back, use a photo shield from Roy's site www.radarbusters.com.

    Default serious?

Is this true, that one head on the rear right above the plate wont do the job?
Can they target the tailgate of my truck or will they aim for the plate? If it's the plate, surely one head will do the trick.
From the back they are using a laser gun, with a camara attached and if the laser gets a reading, it takes pic automatically.
I have had the rear head on for 2 weeks now, but no traps seen yet...

they can target the tailgate. one would probably cover the plate area, but if they move up for a higher shot it won't at close range, up to about 250-400' depending.

those cameras are actually very good res and even a full view shot can be zoomed to show the plate and even the drivers face ( from the front), so they may just aim center mass at the rear, so depending on distance could be hit or miss.

in testing i have gotten JFG with one head on my truck, but i have gotten PT too. i have 2 heads at the moment and can get JFG, but if i aim high near the upper area of the tailgate, the Blinder won't protect it and i'll get a reading until i'm further out (past around 200' or so), then it's jam from there.

i have the Tundra double Cab, and 2 heads overall work very well, but i've been wanting better center protection and a Blinder head won't fit in the recess area of the handle, so i have an AL on the way to flush mount inside.

at some point i'll do some vids once i do the install.
using a single AL or LPP may be the way to go to protect that tailgate area.
we'll know once i test it.
