It is a VERY tough gun to jam, perhaps the tougheest US gun to jam. It was actually made by Laser Atlanta, and even has the same pulse rate as modern Laser Atlanta guns, so a lot of people consider it a "poor man's Laser Atlanta". Plus you can get the PLII for pretty cheap, and people test with whatever they've got.

Aside from that, it is still IACP approved, so police are most certainly still using it.

They're pretty easy to find on online auction sites too. So that's why there are more PL IIs amongst us RD.netizens than other guns.

State Troopers in northern parts of NH still use them. In the southern part of the state it's all PL III.

    Default PL II...Easy to J

The PLII is pretty easy to jam...the old Blinder M-06 had it down pat. Of course finding a working M-06 is tough, then you have to deal with the massive amount of jam codes...but it did jam pretty good.

As Kpatz knows, NH SP still use the Pro II, its shuffled up North where the trickle down of newer equipment is nearly non-existent.

The Southern NH patrols have the Pro III.

To the OP and Jimbonzzzz mentioned that they are the same 238 pps as the current LA. The LI ID's the gun as Pro II or LA. To a jammer they are identical. While the LA is more sophisticated, if you can get a reading on a Pro II you're set up needs attention.

The optics on the Pro II are an advantage IMHO for receiving pulses back.

The Pro II also has some interesting differences:
    It puts out a wider beam. 4' @ 1,000 ft vs 3' @ 1,000

Its beam is oriented /// vs E in a LA.
