    Default ZR3 Customer Service/Blinder Start-up Test Tone?

    Hey everyone -

Until recently, I had a ZR3 in my '05 Corvette. This was the third ZR3 I've owned (in three different cars), and I think the ZR3 is great. Unfortunately, I was in an accident that damaged one of the front laser receivers. I called Escort, who told me the receiver would be $125 to replace, but that I had to go through an Escort retailer to order it. Well, every local retailer (Car Toys, Tweeter and others) told me that they cannot sell me parts, only the entire ZR3 product. So basically it is impossible to buy parts. I've made about five telephone calls to Escort, including to managers who have ignored my voicemails, and another 5 - 10 calls to the local retailers. Now I've given up.

So - I'm looking at replacements for my ZR3. I'm tempted to wait for the next generation Blinder, but I'm kind of impatient. Anyway, here's my question regarding the current generation Blinder -- I've read that there is a test tone everytime you start up your car. Is that as annoying as it sounds? Is it a full-blown alert sound, or something softer?

Buy the AL6 when it comes out in a couple of weeks. If you cant wait the LE30 or the Blinder will do

AntiLaser gen6(AL6) would be great but if you need one now get a blinder for the front of your car and a keep the rear ZR3 jammer on

Did you ask Roy if he could get the parts? Roy also sells the Escort.

$125 per transponder you are better off getting a new jammer

The same price per transponder for Blinder.

$125 is a lot cheaper than buying an entirely new unit. If replacing 2 heads then maybe it would give me pause on the new unit. Again it cannot hurt to ask Roy if he can get a replacement head, or to snipe something on ebay.

When it comes to sensitive items such as jammers and RD's I don't recommend eBay, eBay isn't a bad place, just for items that requiere good warrantee don't get them at eBay (If you wouldn't get it at a flee market, don't get it at eBay either  ) But yes, maybe you can order directly from Escort? That would seem best...

Raplacing both front head...With the current Blinder discount you can get an M-20 for just under $300 Go with a blinder M20 if jammer is needed now and keep the rear transponder for rear protetion

That's the problem... Escort is blowing him off and told him to get from a dealer. He went to local dealers and they tell him they can only sell completely new unit. That is why I think he should contact Roy and see if he can get a single head. If push comes to shove look for a replacement head on ebay. Since it doesn't sound like Escort is going to help him warranty or not I would say as a last resort see if you can find a head on ebay...

Then if all else fails then go shopping for a new jammer and it wouldn't be an Escort after this experience. If Escort reads these forums then hopefully are getting a clue that poor customer service and failure to keep promises isn't winning new customers, or in this case keeping existing customers. I say TWO THUMBS DOWN.
