I purchased and installed a Blinder Extreme M45 (Version J16) in my '08 Silverado a couple months back. I mounted all 4 heads up front...two sitting on top of the tow hooks (between the fog lamps and license plate) and two in the grill (next to each headlight.
The instructions state that there is a "new" feature where you can test the system on startup for about 30-60 seconds using a standard infrared remote (TV, DVD, DVR, etc.).
First, I noticed that testing with one of these remotes will always trigger the jammer, even after the 30-60 seconds.
Second, according to all of the marketing on the web, this unit is not supposed to false alarm. I get false alarms a lot, typically when passing certain vehicles travelling in the opposite direction. The Toyota Sienna minivan is one of the vehicles I have noted will cause a false alarm.
So, question is, is this unit I have defective or do some vehicles have some sort of infrared on-board system that is causing the false alarms?
