    Default Blinder test mode video

Here is a video demonstrating how to use the Blinder test mode to check your heads. I shot this video of my M40 when it had a head develop a water leak, allowing water to ruin the head after a freeze. Please note that you must have a camcorder or cell phone to see the heads firing back when you shoot it with the remote.

The Blinder M27 and M47 do not have a test mode that a remote will work with.

That is not good. The test feature has saved me a few road side headaches before the Blinder was needed in a real situation. I discovered a leaking head that only fired with 2 leds when my system was 1 year old playing with the test mode one night. Warranty covered that one. That was before I had a lidar gun to test with so I would have been owned without the test mode showing me I had a bad head. No error indication was given with that bad head.

You can check the M27 by putting it into parking sensor mode and looking at the head to see if the LED's are firing.

OK, so do you all routinely check the heads? Once a week, month, etc?

Interesting that the manufacturer or distributors do not add this information but rather the people who own them Great bit of info as I am installing my m27 this morning.

If they are epoxy filled, how would it even be possible to get a water leak? Would your head be covered under warranty?

Mhardy2288 has this been corrected with the new versions?

Epoxy, like most other materials, expands & contracts with temperature changes. I have lost 2 M40 heads due to water in the last 4 1/2 years. This is nothing like the problems I had with the old M10 series. Those were not epoxy filled, but hollow and filled with water & green corrosion after about a year. With the abuse these heads take on the front end of a vehicle, I think Blinder is doing a good job keeping water out of the heads and keeping failures to a minimum.

As for your warranty question, Blinder replaced the first failed head at 1 1/2 years with no problems at all. Since the warranty is only 2 years, this one was on my tab as expected. Blinders warranty on this unit was up, so their obligation was complete. I am just happy they still had a J6 head laying around to get me back up & jamming.
