Default Leo's shooting Laser from bridge overpass

How effective is the m27/47 when elevation is in question. Such as some LEO's are known to shoot from above an overpass bridge down to incoming cars towards them vs say shooting laser from same line of site say under the overpass. I've been shot many times from LEOs who park not on the off ramp of overpass, but directly above the overpass bridge shooting down at incoming cars. My jammer does go off signaling its detecting the laser and firing back but I always question is it really jamming the LEO's gun at that elevation.

I hate when they do that. I recently got my first ticket like that. But i didnt have any protection except V1.

Effective enough, if they're mounted properly (recessed and it's like the visor on a hat blocking the sun, only you're blocking the jamming pulses); however I'm not sure there has been much in the way of scientific testing with varying grades.

Almost all of the test results I see focus on center mass/headlight/taillight/license plate. Only recently did I see a test where they shot from the overpass. You'd think this would be a common test area seeing as how this is a common LEO tactic. I know when I finally get my jammers I definitely plan on getting them tested from an overpass.

Some of it is that cosine error works to your advantage and as long as your jammer heads aren't recessed to much, at a 1000ft or more with a 15ft rise is still a pretty dead on straight hit.

Additionally, when it comes to testing, accurate replicating can become difficult as shooting laser at cars is what the Dallas FOX affiliate would describe as "anti-social behavior" so you're more likely to get a visit from an LEO inquiring as to what you are doing, which will at the very least delay things; and you need to choose the location carefully to have a straight flat road to and from the bridge while at the same time not having so much space between turn around points that you're waiting an inordinate amount of time between runs of the test vehicle.

All that said, the more of it that people are able to do the more knowledge we'll have and the better prepared we will be; so doing it certainly holds value.

Until you get to within a 100' or so they are very effective, once the cosine becomes large, say over 15 degrees then the chance for a PT increases. LEO's also know the cosine error favors you so most overpass encounters are quite long.

Yeah on the one and only laser encounter I had at an overpass I was targeted from WAY far out, definitely 2,000ft+. Hince my 9500ix alerting even though it's high on the windshield of my TRUCK.
