Blinder M40 problems. Doesn't always jam and makes whistling sounds.

Hi, I have a friend with 2.7 year old Blinder M40. Countless saves. Until recently. It didn't go off or flash the in-car LED when shot by a LEO. 100% he was being shot at because he was the only car in view and RD went off.

So recently, before that LEO encounter, his jammers started "whistling" ,as in cutting in and out on the alert sound.. like a lower voltage than it normally would. Sounds like water boiling. We figured it still worked because it worked at Laser red light cameras.

Has anyone heard of this problem? As to why it's "whistling?" I tried searching.. but not sure how others would word it! It shows a green light and makes the 30 second ready beep. That means all heads are working, correct?

Sounds similar to what happened to my M45. At first it gave me a non stop constant alert for one day until I unplugged the head. Then it stopped doing that and would occasionally make a dying off whistle when it started. Turns out that one of my heads had the seal broken and had filled with water. Take a camera and TV remote and go outside at night. Shoot the remote at the jammers and record them with the camera to see if all of the leds are firing. I only a couple LEDs in that were firing in one head when I tried and I could see where there had been water in it when I reviewed the video on my camera later. Hope this helps.

Bad head, probably water contamination. A Sony camera with night shot mode will allow you to look into the heads at night.
