I can tell you for sure they are to too recessed!!!! Overhead and shots as you crest a hill are going to be instant ownage. The heads can't see above or below!!

Just gentle pressure and you should be able to pull them off. A small screwdriver between the tape and head with gentle pressure will work too.

Yes the heads need to be even with that front edge, preferably sticking over the edge just a bit.

The heads are not only too recessed, but they need to be spread apart more. There isnt much room to move them, since the curvature of that space in the grill will eventually get to the point where the heads wouldnt be able to be leveled. However, looking at the pictures they can defintely be moved a couple inches (cut through the plastic grill, sorry) and pull them outwards so that they are slightly exposed. The edge of your headlights and those fog lights will get owned. Your mazda is quite different from mine, however, we have similar curved head lights. I tested extensively with an ultralye and had some issues, and my heads were were more spaced out than yours. Also, you will most likely need to veil the fog lights (perhaps head lights as well.)

also you need to make sure they are pointing straight forward, they look like they're pointing outward.
