Tint?

Whats the best tint to use? Lumar?

I am getting ready to tint the passat.

Anybody in the DFW area recommend a shop?

I did A LOT of research before I tinted my WRX and I went with Lumar. It was outstanding and I highly recommend it. However because it is metallic when I tinted my EVO I went with something different that was non metallic and it was great as well.

Now that I have the TransAm I'm not sure what tint is on it but its awesome

Since you probably have a radar detector, I would go with Ceramic Tinting. Ceramic Tinting has no conductivity and will nto interfere with your radar detector, navigation (if you have it) and fm/cellphone reception.

Protint does Huper Optik

Earmark does F1 Pinnacle (Llumar sister-company)

Both are top of the line and ceramic is superior to metal/dye films, however its a little pricey.

Both places quoted me $400 out the door on an 06 Accord Sedan.

IMO I would go with the Huper Optik because they have a 30%. F1 Pinnacle only has 35-40 I can't remember.

i am about to spend $400 on tint... am i crazy? i want tint and will only go with the best

As far as my experiences with tint, I have never seen a "perfect" tint. The tint itself of course may be awesome, but it is all about the install. I have never seen someones a window without some defect in the tint due to installation. It is nearly impossible to get all of the lint/dust/particles off of the window before the tint is applied and then to furthermore cut it perfectly straight.

I expected perfection when I got my tint and took it back twice to have it redone due to small imperfections, but have since found others in mine and everyone elses tint I have seen.

Good luck though... maybe your installer will be better than I have ever seen... never know

A friend here in Tampa has used the same shop for all 4 of their BMWs and every single one has incredible tint. They all look really good. The one time there was a flaw they took the car back and retinted the window to make it right. 8)

Id be willing to drive up to the DFW Area as long as the shop is damn decent. Any luck so far... ?

i have a couple of numbers of tint shops

i gave up on tint, bought a macbook instead

ill drive without tint for awhile and see how it goes

i love the privacy of tint, lumina is fully tinted... oh well

Not sure what the laws are there in The Lone Star State but i was in Irving last week foe two days and stopped three times, 1 state man and two different locals concerning my tint and the fact it's only 5%. I have a medical exemption and once i showed that they bid me a good day--some tint type is darker than it's counterparts.
