BMW vs. VW
I was in a 3.6
Just having fun
This bmw came up next to me in a light.
Turns green...we go like normal then he punches it.. well well... so i step on it as well and we go to about 90, i slow down coz i am getting nervous
i got him by 2-3 cars
BMW 330 (5 auto)
225 @ 5900 RPM
214 @ 3500 RPM
Passat 3.6 (6 Auto)
280 @ 6200 RPM
265 @ 2750 RPM
My 2.0T (6 auto) (As I memorized: 0-60= 7.32, 1/4= 15.63)
200 @ 5100 RPM
207 @ 1800 RPM
If i was in my 2.0T, would i have been wooped?
If i was in the lumina.... wouldnt even try
Chipped DSG 2.0T would beat the 330 easy.
Manual would depend on the skill of the person shifting. The BMW may make power, but it is h-e-a-v-y.
My GTI is around 3100 pds and makes 250hp and 290ft/lb with a chip.
When you say 6 speed auto, is it an auto or is it the DSG? I don't know if you would've beaten a 330 if your 2.0T is stock. I've read that with a good launch, the 330's are in the mid 6's for 0-60, although you said you launched normally and then the BMW stepped on it, which is more like a 5-60mph go. It'd be close
in the US, i think DSG is only available in the GTI. definitely not passats
yeah people say the 2.0T is under rated to make the 3.6 look good. chip the 2.0T and it will give you a couple more horses
i dont want to void my warranty though
Same, ergo my thread:
I know DSG is available on the GTI and GLI, I dunno about the Passat though....
The gains from a chip in a turbo car are huge though... definitely something to shake a stick at...
