When the 850's first came out, a Canadian auto magazine tested several Canadian made cars to find the "fastest car made in Canada". The supercharged Buick Regal was excluded since it had a wimpy speed limiter at 115 mi/h. So they had the Crown Vic police pack, the Camaro Z-28 automatic and Firebird Trans AM WS-6 6-speed, and a Volvo 850 station wagon

Now of course, the F-bodies were the quickest between 160-165 miles per hour (and that was a speed limiter at 165!) but the Volvo did 155! Meanwhile the Crown barely did 130.

Must have been fun to watch a pair of high performance V8 sports cars going around a racetrack with a damn Volvo station wagon hot on their heels

The Washington State patrol has several unmarked 850r's as patrol vehicles!

My understanding is that they can be upgraded/modified to quite an impressive level, and on a reasonable budget, too.

A local Scooby enthusiast also has a late-model Cross-Country, and he mentioned that for about $$3,000 (parts, not including labor - but he's a self-wrencher, so that's a moot point), a "staged" kit from IPD could take the car up to about 400 horses, at the wheels.

    Nice stuff.

as living in sweden this vid is no surprise to me ... the local blackraces (legal streetraces) show volvo's or saab with 600-1200bhp on the wheels and doing the quatermile in 6 seconds or so ... amazing

I am judging from the other modified T5s I have seen.

The thing moveds but it's not 400fwhp there would be know traction at full boost. My Volvo has traction problems at 200hp and my cousins at 260 is even worse

If I remember correctly that car has 500+ HP, will try to find the link that show the mods!
