This story is more about a car than it is the officer. I got a friend of mine in my city here that has become a traffic officer.
Now the training is like 4 hours class room and 8 hours hands on, or it might be the other way around. But get this they just had him skip the classroom stuff and he did like an 8 hour shift.
Now my city has 5 motorcycles. They really have more than that but that is mostly what they run on a daily basis. Then they have one smooth impala and 2 smooth crown vics.
Now he has been telling us they were going to put him in a car to do traffic work. I can't believe what they gave him. They put him in a car that they pretty much had almost retired. Get this, a caprice with a corvette engine in it. I have ridden in this car when they had them back in the day and that succer is fast as hell. It has 93,000 miles on it. I can't believe they are putting him in that but then kinda cool. I have not seen a caprice running around in a long time in any city. Back when the Caprices were around my city special ordered several of them. They were super nice. Lots of power, leg room, handeled good.
