First off, here's the mandatory disclaimer: this would be on a track under safe and legal conditions ONLY. No street racing for this old man.
OK, anyway. My daughter's friend Jake drives a V6 Tibby MTX. He likes to talk smack about it being able to smoke my 6, and of course I tell him there's no way.
In reality, there's only a small difference in 0-60 times for the two cars (7.2 for the 6S ATX and 7.4-7.7 for the Tele-tibby MTX).
Well, her friend wants to race. Take it to the track and see who's faster. "You have no idea how fast I drive," he says.
LOL. Yes I do -- you got three tickets in your first year of driving, Junior.
I suspect that in a straight drag, we'll be close, but I'll edge him out. In a turning race, I think the 6 will put him AWAY.
I don't really want to do it, though. First off, he's a kid and I'd feel terrible if he got hurt or trashed his car. Second, I think it's a terrible example to set for my kids. And third -- if he beats me OMG I'll never hear the end of it.
So what do you think? Meet him at the track or just let him keep wondering? I'm leaning toward a negative--I have nothing to prove to a 17-year-old kid--but am interested in other opinions.
