    Default Shifting without the clutch?

So is it bad to shift without using the clutch?

Ive been doing it a lot lately, reving up for a down shift, and letting the rpm drop till the higher gear hits the right RPM.

I just started to heel and toe without using the clutch, and I want to make sure that I am not doing damage to anything.

Standard and automatic transmission all in one with no clutch whatsoever = paddle shifters (the ones on the steering wheel)

Uh, you are severely damaging your transmission and clutch. The whole point of reving the car to go down into a gear is to use the clutch. And how are you "heel toe shifting" without hitting the clutch? That is WHAT heel-toe is.

Now if you are driving a race car and doing drag racing with a turbo, you can power shift. Basically it's holding the clutch down and not letting off the gas and shifting. This prevents the turbo from going down in boost but still hurts the life of your clutch and isn't recommended on daily driver cars.

Other than that, I don't know what the hell you are doing to your car.

    Heel-Toe:

I know what heel and toe is.

Even though I am not using the clutch and there is no grinding from the tranny, I am still doing damage? It seems like if the gear will slide in without any effort it would be easier on the components.

It puts a lot of unnecessary wear on the synchronizers. Years ago a friend took out the synchronizer for third gear in my brand new car when I let him borrow it for the afternoon. He told me he wasn't using the clutch and drove that way all the time with his car.

Apparently you don't, because you have to press on the clutch in order to benefit from the heel-toe method.
