    Default E60 BMW M5

Hey everyone. Went with my dad tonight and now i got him interested in a used 06 BMW m5 for under 60k...

Anybody got any experience with these things?

All i know is they are amazing. We are going to drive a used one tomorrow.

Are they reliable? I have no idea lol

E60 M5 is probably the greatest sedan on the road today.

My personal favorite color combination is Interlagos Blue with the Silverstone interior.

500hp, 5.0L V10 naturally aspirated, programmable shift pattern, programmable suspension, 0-60 times that smoke the Ferrari 360 and Porsche's 911!!!
Don't get the manual 6 speed. It wasn't made specifically for this car, the SMG has received way better reviews. (though I don't think the 6speed was made in 06)

No Launch control in the US. Every other market gets this amazing "drag strip" ability, where the car holds 4500 and then rips through the gears producing better 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile times than shifting yourself. (True 12.5 quarter--eat your hearts out wannabe muscle cars and ricers)

    Now for the price....
Something doesn't seem right for an E60 less than 60k, unless its seriously high mileage. I've seen lots of M5's in the 70k range, with a few in the lower 60's.

So far there hasn't been any known problems with the E60 M5, though if your Dad is concerned about gas mileage, he should look at the 545i, or the newer 535 (which has about the same horsepower as the 545 and 50hp less than the 550, but is 200lbs lighter)

There are 2 M5s here in MN that are going for 63, and a fleet of them on ebay for 56k and up.

The one we found is 57k. 22k miles. Its loaded.

My dad just put a bid on it as well...

I don't care what he says. I would still take an E39 M5 over that for equal money. Or, hell, in reality, you could use the money you save with the E39 for a forced induction kit of some sort and blow that bloated E60 away

I think my lasting achievement for mankind some day will be to be the first person to understand iDrive, and then I will teach the world. I'll be like the Buddha of pointless automobile electronics.
