    Default mmmmm choices, choices

I got an offer from a friend of mine in Dallas to buy my C6. I'm not sure he's very educated about these cars value because he's a bit high on his estimate. However; he knows my maintenance drills so he says it's worth knowing the cars past.

    So my two ideas are:
Take the 30k bank it for a year, put another 20 on it and buy a lightly used 08 C6 next spring.

Take the 30k bank it for a year, put another 20 on it then finance another 30 and buy a lightly used Porsche 911 Carrera 4. Or maybe a more used Porsche GT3.

08 C6. Less maintenance headache, plus beautiful looking.

    gt3.....yummmmm.

i couldnt wait a year though...especially with the summer rolling around. plus, this could be a good solution to the LEO's knowing what car to look for. you would have to be marked all over again!

just when our SR7/V1/LS2 club was taking off the ground, lol

I love american muscle, so I'm saying corvette. Is there a reason you want an 08 C6? I would try to get a 06 Z06, which in a year should be in your range.

As an option 3, which of coarse I am 100% bias towards, you could also pick up an 05 GTO for under 20k, drop a sweet twin turbo/supercharger set up into it along with a better fuel system/exhaust/etc, and you could have a sweet sleeper and save some money.

First of all, have you shopped your car to dealerships like Carmax to determine what it's actually worth? Just how high is his $30K offer?

You have to balance whatever "extra" your friend is offering you against the prospect of having no fun car to drive for an entire year. For me the choice is easy: I would keep my C6 until I am good and ready to replace it. Even if his offer is high by $1000 or even $2000, to me that's still not worth an entire year without a fun car to drive.
