Repainting a car...
I read some guides on the internet and it seems simple enough. I want to paint my car flat black for MAX STEALTHVATION!
One question, What is a good brand of paint sprayer?
I AM NOT INTERESTED IN LOOKS, I AM INTERESTED IN STEALTH!
Found this guide, looks accurate to me!
ha, The guide got a 1 out of 5 star rating
But seriously, I've seen flat black cars and it's kind of an eyesore.
especially a Civic coupe.
Lol. IT SEEMS LIKE THE GUIDE MAKES SENSE!

All you need to know is preparation preparation preparation!
You will spend weeks sanding and then wet-sanding and then removing trim pieces and then masking parts off. But the more time you spend preparing the better your results. Remember looks may not be important to you but you won't like your car if it is ugly. And durability is also a major factor from the preparation. If you just take a Krylon can and start painting the car it will flake off in bits in a few days, but there will always be bits that will stick to ensure maximum uglyness.
So you just doing a single stage paint?
I used rustoleum satin/flat black on my turbo honda; turned out fantastic though it chips kinda easy cus i didnt prep some parts that well.
THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP AND THE ONE THAT WILL HAVE THE MOST EFFECT ON THE OUTCOME IS THE PREP!!!!!!!! DO NOT SKIMP ON THE PREP!!!!!!!
with that said; just sand the car down; dont even have to sand it completely if hte paint is still good just knock all the flakes off; smooth it out; do any body work if you want and hit the whole thing w/ some 400 grit to give the new paint something to stick to on the existing clear.
Get you a good gun; the $50 gun from harbor freight works pretty good for this if you get it adjusted just right* or maybe you can luck out and find a good gun at a pawn shop; clear guns work good for rustoleum since its a bit thicker than regular paint and it works for primer too.
Dont spend a ton of money but dont cheap out; prep the shieet out of the car, take your time get a good surface to work with. Mask off all the glas and parts you dont want painted. Door jams dont need to be painted unless you really want; i didnt wann spend the time and no one sees the jams anyway.
then once you've done that WIPE THE WHOLE CAR DOWN with some prep-all or degreaser/denatured alcohol to get any wax/oil off. so many people skip this step. paint cant stick to greasy fingerprints or old car wax and it will bubble.
Once thtas done; as soon as the prepall is dried put down a few coats of rustoleum diluted 1 part acetone to 1 part paint and voiala. about 4 coats (1qt paint 1qt reducer).... make sure the paint gets tacky between coats; dont do coat after coat if its wet and dont let it dry completely.
then let it dry overnight; the hotter the climate the better; take off your masking; enjoy your new SR71 stealth boomber

The problem with flat black is that, no matter how badass stealth it is, nobody has figured out a way to make it NOT look like primer...
Lol. My car has 120,000 miles, and I allready have a girlfriend. So I don't see what the problem with having an ugly car is
Thanks for the advice Kustom!
if you want the best gun, get a sata 3000 rp. those guns are absolutely awesome. i dont like hvlp guns at all. they just never seem to lay down the paint like the rp's do....for me at least
