Ok, after our staff meeting two weeks ago the decision for my new 4.0 lab car candidates has been made.
Low Budget Used Sports Car. Something I can pay for in cash or pay off quickly if the ship starts taking on water.
The following candidates are not listed by preference and I've test driven them all as well. The criteria for they're candidacy was simple.
• Good handling
• Reliable, and turn key. I can't be rolling this thing in the shop for two weeks waiting on a tune.
• Also, needs to have nice locations for jammer heads and a cockpit big enough for misc electronics.
• Needs to be small enough to fit in my stupidly small parking space here in the building I live in. Fortunately my parking neighbor is a meticulous gay that drives a black convertible Mini. Low chance of door dings from him.
So you see our contestants. I have a favorite but as always, argue your positions with equal parts, facts, passion and personal bias. Or if positive reinforcement doesn't work you can just tell me why a candidate is garbage. Negative politics works on me too.
Candidate #1 The VW R32
Made the final cut just because it was JDS fave.
Candidate #2 Mazda RX8
Hailing from the land of the rising sun, she may be slow but she's small and Jeremy Clarkson described her as the best handling car he'd driven in 07.
Candidate #3 Nissan 350Z
Also from the rising sun, she has style and charisma and the heart of my 11 year old daughter.
Candidate #4 06 Pontiac GTO
Kind of old, but a 400hp bargain and still virtually undetectable on the highways.
Candidate #5 08 Subaru WRX
Thanks to high gas prices I can actually find a few on the used market.
Candidate #6 05 Mitsubishi EVO MR
Dangerous, looking at these on the used market but a neighbor had one and I've always loved it. Still expensive but I had to put it on the list.
