I think he should buy an Atom, but he obviously has other plans and other dreams.

It was just the first 30 seconds or so that was cool, just listen to the engine.

The Atom is a great machine that is actually affordable, unlike most cars that I want. I was looking at used Atoms for sale on the atom website, awesomely, the majority came with hardwired V1s! For the Atom the big break package is a must, or so Clarkson insists.

My only problem with the Atom is the engine. I want something different...maybe an old air-cooled Porsche flat-six.

    Either that or a 3.6L VR6 turbo!

I don't get the Atom, just build yourself a Seven in the garage with a bigger pedal box so you can drive it

Yeah JDS, we'd both be dead. Why not just throw in a W12 from a Veyron?

The jewel about the Atom is the cornering. You can make the most perfect turns every time. You can't miss the apex cause you can see the wheels. And it can turn really hard.

The Veyron is ghey and its engine [which is a W16] is unimpressive (if I remember correctly, they just cloned two extra cylinders onto a VR6, bolted two together, and turbo-d it). Its specific output is pathetic and besides, something that big would never fit anyway.

The VR6 would work because it was designed to fit in engine bays for 4-cylinder transverse engines. The Volkwagen A4 platform (Jetta Mk4 and Golf Mk4) was introduced in 1999.5, primarily intended for 2.0L and 1.8L inline-4 engines. The 3.6L VR6 actually fits just fine in these cars, thus it would be perfect for the Atom, which is normally a 4-cylinder car.
