The club is useless. It may stop the spur of the moment thief, but they will just cut throught the wheel itself. Or even worse, wait for your dad to come with the keys, and take them from him forcefully.
He could wire up a hidden ign kill switch, or a starter kill switch.

X2, the club is easy to defeat, you can cut the steering wheel in half or just spray liquid nitrogen on it and shatter it, it's useless.

What kind of car thieves do you have in Texas? Liquid nitrogen, hacked alarm systems, tinted windows ward them off.
Sounds like Texas is a different country.
I'm originally from SoCal, I've seen it all, these are very real threats, I can't make this stuff up, they used to show this kind of stuff on the 5 o'clock news.
Many efforts have been made to interfere with the theft of a motor vehicle, ranging from the simple use of steel locking mechanisms place on the steering column to exotic electronic tracking systems and alarms. For the most part, these priorefforts have been largely fruitless as the increasing value of the vehicle has propelled the thieves into actions equally as tricky as the mechanism used to preclude theft. Sophisticated alarm systems are routinely disarmed by the knowledgeabledisablement of power sources. Tracking systems are shielded prior to departure and steel barriers are treated with liquid nitrogen rendering the steel brittle and susceptible to shattering. In each instance, the thief is able to start and move thevehicle within minutes--thus lowering his/her exposure to capture. Accordingly, a significant need has remained largely unmet and vehicles remain vulnerable to theft.

One last thing since everyone hates on window tint;
Quote:
Security and Safety Window Film for Your Automobile
Car stereos, mp3 players, cameras, pocketbooks—they're all fair game to a car thief.
Without security window film installed on your vehicle, not only are the valuables you store in your car open for anyone to see, they're vulnerable to being stolen.
Many executives are applying the safety and security of our window film to their vehicles—including windshield. The process creates a thorough barrier from one end of the window to the other. All moving windows are removed and the film is applied to the entire surface of glass, from end–to–end, and then re–installed. The increased overall strength added to the glass of your vehicle also withstands the pressure of your windows being forced in, and not just shattered from an impact.
Thieves use the Smash & Grab method most often on cars and trucks. They look in, see something of value, smash the window and grab your valuables. It can take seconds to lose items worth thousands of dollars. In most cases, this isn't covered by your automobile insurance!
Security window film acts as an insurance policy against Smash & Grab. The glass won't shatter making it harder and slower for the thief to get your valuables—and more time for your car alarm to scare them off and bystanders to take notice.

If someone wants to steal my car bad enough to hack my alarm, and carry liquid nitrogen then they can have it. The average car thief doesnt go that far, Im not too worried about that happening though.
Just wanted my current alarm to do what its supposed to, keep the run of the mill thief at bay.

Well then, we have reached the same page. Window tint is not the solution, nor is a Car alarm, however certain things do deter thieves. My point was had you had window tint, the AVERAGE thief, i.e. the one who STOLE your ipod, probably wouldn't have seen it in the first place to grab it, just something to think about getting in addition to a Car Alarm, since they obviously fail.

I too agree that the club is worthless. I've seen it defeated personally in less than 10 secs without the use if liquid nitrogen. I am also a firm believer in DEI alarms. The failure rate on these things when installed properly is almost nonexistent. Compustar has a much higher failure rate but works well when it works.
When I see cars with tinted windows/security film/whatever, I see a person with something to hide. The tint helps contain the glass also after the window is smashed. Makes a thiefs job a little easier and safer.
