I've been changing my oil and filters in my numerous family's cars for over 30 years and, despite the bad press about Fram filters, I used them exclusively on at least 5 vehicles, each of which had over 200,000 miles on them by the time I got rid of them. Not one of those cars had any engine problems nor did they burn or use more than about 1/4 quart of oil, IF any, between changes. It wasn't until about 5 or so years ago that I began hearing negative things about Fram.

Is it that they really are bad or just not as good as the others? I've since switched to M1, Motorcraft and Amsoil filters (depending on which vehicle I'm working on) only because of the bad press. If I had a Fram filter in the garage, I doubt I'd hesitate to use it. But that's just my personal opinion based on a LOT of real-life mileage experience with Fram.

the other filters are usually built better than the fram filters. and many of them you can find cheaper than fram.

i switched from fram to ac delco when i was bored one day while shopping with the woman at walmart. if you look at the inside of a fram there are only 6 holes to let oil in compared to the dozens of small holes on the delco. delco was like 13cents cheaper and its the color of my car
