I think the power of the Cayman S is a joke. I love the car (layout etc) but for the price tag you can have a faster car that handles just as well. I wish they would put a deserving engine and price tag on it and let it compete with the 911.

Going 140+mph on the German autobahn...legally!!!

Ever driven one?
You might be surprised to find that the power to weight ratio is better in a Cayman S than it is in a 911 Carrera. (295 hp pulling 2,950 lbs, or 320 hp pulling 3,300 lbs). For what I paid for my Cayman S I could have purchased a 911 Carrera and had $6,000 left over. Drive them back to back and you might think a little differently.

Like I said, I prefer the layout of the Cayman. If I ever own a Porsche it will ONLY be a Cayman or similar model (mid-engine not rear). Also, I guess the pimped out Cayman at the auto show was only a regular Cayman b/c it said 5.8 seconds but it was still like $60,000...
So, I take back what I said for the most part. But I still think they could do better if they stopped trying to keep it a rung below the 911.

Understood, and I agree. There are a number of folks who've done engine swaps and dropped the 3.8L X-51 into the Caymans. This is a performance engine created for the 911 Carrera S. It develops 385hp out of the crate. Tuned, it makes about 400. In a Cayman chassis, it's just incredible.
