I'm casually entertaining the notion of possibly debadging the back of my car but I'm a little hesitant to do so.
I drive a Subaru Legacy 2.5GT wagon--not exactly a car everyone will immediately recognize, but I appreciate the fact that it's a rather unremarkable, forgettable looking station wagon wholly at odds with the way it actually performs and the way I usually drive it.
My concern is that some of the innocent, anonymous, "that can't possibly be the car that rang up 95 on my radar gun" factor will be lost if I take away the identifying badges and make it look less stock. I wonder if it might be perceived more as a sort of "tuner car" or modded, riced import by cops instead of just some guy going fast in a grocery getter.
It's moderately tinted in the back and in the rear but not the front windows or windshield, I'll have aftermarket wheels on it soon, and there's a black bra over the front bumper, but other than that, it's stock.
I've had a pretty good track record getting warnings each time I've been pulled over in this car, so I worry that debadging might alter the way my car is perceived by LEOs who may pull me over--especially if they have no idea what kind of car it is.
I don't want to possibly ruin any amount of "sleeperness" just for cosmetic giggles...
I'd love to hear opinions on this.
