    Default 2004 cts-v

Well, I've had the "new" car bug for a few months and can't shake it. I want a stealth-bomber luxo-barge type vehicle for around $20,000.

I've had the hots for a 00, 01 M5 but maintence costs kind of spook me and that's a lot of $$ for a pretty old car. The 04 Caddy's are in my price range plus they're newer with lower miles.

Needs to haul a family of 4 cross country, has to be a stick (My wife WON'T drive an auto) needs to haul ass...

NO TRUCKS or truck like things...

    Any thoughts

The Pontiac G8 is a good buy and is pretty fast and it's got four doors vs the old GTOs two doors.

Audi S4s can be had for close to that price range but they suffer from some of the cost issues BMWs have.

    Acura TL-S
    Mazda Speed 6

But I would suggest G8. Whenever the guys at Top Gear tests a sedan they always go with the Vauxhall. Even over the CTS-V, which they loved but not as much as the Vauxhall.

The G8 looks badazz but why oh why do they choose to not release it with a manual transmission!?! Also, I would imagine that CTS-V and S4 parts would be similarly priced. I know the complete maintenance cost of the B5 and B6 S4. I'm assuming you were referring to the 04+ B6 with the V8 which are usually good cars and repair costs tend to be very reasonable for the class which the car is in. Unfortunately, I find them to be rather underperforming. Pretty to look at but not enough "sport" to keep "me" happy.

The G8 GXP came with a 6 speed I believe, but good luck finding one.

Sorry guys, I wasn't aware the the 09 GXPs had a manual option. Awesome car but that ones probably going to be a bit out of the OPs price range. I just saw one this morning at Starbucks. Very very attractive car.
