Default Waxing a car - looks like crap

I remember over the summer, I waxed my car. It looked nice. A few days later, it looked like I needed to wipe the car down again. If I'd run my finger over any part that was waxed, it would be shiny again. If it would rain, and I'd look at my car when it would stop raining and everything was dry, I'd have water dropplets all over the car that I'd have to wipe off.

What did I do wrong, or is car wax just like that? I used Mcguires Tech Wax or something like that.

    Thanks.

I wipe it off and then it comes back a few hours later.

Is it supposed to do that? It seems I'd have to wipe the car down 3 times a day, every day, just so it shines... otherwise it looks very dull from the film that I can just wipe away with my finger. Once I do that, it shines. Then it gets dull again, then repeat.

Use "quick detailer" to remove a light coating of dust from the surface.

Some waxes seem to attract and bond to dust a lot more than others, for example carnauba seems to attract more dust than synthetics like Zaino or Klasse. There's probably not a great deal of difference though.

What is quick detailer? Is that to be used before or after the car is waxed? Thanks.

Since you said you were using Meguiars tech wax, here's the detailer:

    http://www.meguiars.com/?car-mainten...Speed-Detailer

Use it to maintain the look after a wax, as long as there is only light dust on the surface and not heavy dirt.

I'll bet GTO_04 will chime in if he sees this thread

I'll grab some. Does that go on before AND after I wax? Thanks.
