Re: performance chips?
I was going to get a tuner for my truck at one time. I had a few concerns that turned me away. They costed around $400.00 but didnt really add enough power to justify that. You had to run Premium fuel to get those small gains adding more cost. It just isnt cost effective for my truck unless I were to do other mods.
The only true benefit would be to remove the 99mph speed limiter. Still not worth 400 duckies.

Re: performance chips?
The alternative is Nitrous oxide it is the best bang for your buck IMO, but misuse can cause serious issues, and if someone was to get NOS you would have to get a tune for proper air to fuel ratio, possibly upgrade your MAF and it would be a necessity to upgrade your plugs. But if you choose this....it wouldn't be recommended for everyday.

Re: performance chips?
You would still need a tune to run NOS. 2 degrees of timing retard for every 50 HP the shot adds, give or take depending on the engine.

Re: performance chips?
LOL, I wouldnt waste my time putting Nitrous on anything but a drag car. Its only good for a few seconds each shot. Not exactly the performance enhancer I need.
I have been toying with the idea of dropping a GM 383 stroker in, but When the time comes Ill probably just get a new car instead. I really like the Challengers. The new Camaros look like ass on the half shell.

Re: performance chips?
I love the camaro and the interior, i also love the challenger, but they do lack on the interior...but when it comes down to it, its really about what you have under the hood, but if for some lame reason you have to go with a v6....id go with the chevy, the challengers 6cyl is a really....really poor performer. i just suggested NOS if you have a daily driver and take it to the track twice a month. but because some of those obdII tuners are garbage. but there are a couple out there that actually deliver. but what are you thinking about dropping the stroker in?

Re: performance chips?
Your never too old for a project car or something new! But a midlife crisis car hmmm. a Ferrari F430?
And im glad to hear you wouldnt buy a 6cyl camaro or challenger, i had a friend who bought a 6cyl charger, he put exhaust on it and an air intake, it sounds like a honda civic going down the freeway....not theirs nothing wrong with a civic or a 6cyl, but when you see a 2 ton "MUSCLE CAR" with fake R/T badges..and sounds like a tuner, you kind of laugh. He does not know much about cars, he thought he could make it sounds like a 90 degree V8.....nope.

That reminds me of an old company car I once had. It was an 80 something Caprice with a 6 in it. Believe it or not, that car would accelerate faster by putting it on cruise control and hitting the accel button than it would by mashing the gas pedal.
That car suuuucked.
Now my Acura TL/S has a nice 6 in it. Its like a go cart on steroids.

Re: performance chips?
Oh yeah! the Japanese now how to make a 6......I was looking at an Acura TL when I was looking for a new car, the interior is gorgeous. And it was quick too, but I bet the TL/S is outstanding, I love the tl/s' wheels very sporty

Re: performance chips?
I aqcuired a "pre-chipped" VW TDI and I drove my car and a friend's TDI (same make, model and year) and mine is noticeably quicker on short accelerations (current speed + 20 mph) before it flattens out. Not sure if I would bother getting one on a new vehicle, however.
