    Default Silverstar driving lights...

I blew out a DL and picked up a set of silverstars. My lights don't have clear lenses so I was wondering if they will make any difference from stock.

They're supposed to be "ultra white" or something. None of that blue stuff.

    Here's the front end:

I may put them in tonight but really don't feel like it...

They're a bit whiter/brighter than standard halogens (but not nearly as white or blue as HIDs). They should work fine in your lights.

I own them and love them it was a night and day change for me. The only thing is that they last half as long as a normal halogen bulb. I have the Silverstar Ultras.

Well, the DLs on this car must be for show because they light up the road about a yard in front of the car I figured since one of them crapped out I'd do a slight upgrade...

Wifes STS has HID DLs which are b!tchin'...

Are you referring to DRLs (lights that are on whenever the car is on)? Those aren't supposed to be super bright, they're to be seen rather than for you to see. At night you'd put your headlights on. And if they're fog lights, they aren't supposed to light up more than a few feet in front of you.

I installed the ultra's in both the Jeep and car. The Jeep takes sealed beams and yes they made a dramatic difference. The car takes bulbs, barely noticable improvement.

Good bulbs, I had them on my GTO a couple years ago. I know on the STS to change any bulb, the front bumper has to be removed, is that the same case on the CTS-V?

The yellow lights are the DRL/Turn Signals. The bottom lights are controlled from the light switch stalk.

I don't think you have to take the bumper off, just pull the fender wells back... I think...

Silverstars are Cobras, Hellas are Bel 995s and Osram Rallye 65s are V1s. There's crap you can buy in the store that's well marketed that may help a little, there's good stuff you can buy in the store that seems unnecessary but helps a great deal more and then there's that specialty item you can order, that kicks butt and takes names.

SS are about the same birghtness or less than OEM. They just appear brighter because they are "whiter". They lose brightness from the blue filter on them. If you want Silverstars, get the Euro ones.

If you have OEM HIDs, the SS Ultras would match better than a normal halogen. I forgot the name of the seller a couple F150 ppl were using for headlight bulbs. Apparently, they were just as brighter as SS, were like 15 shipped, and they had a warranty on them.
