I'm currently in the market for a new [to me] car.
Basically, the requirements are: 2005 or newer, 4-door mid-sized sedan, 6 cylinder, AWD/4WD, and relatively well priced. This will be a secondary daily driver.
I was looking at the Ford Five Hundred which suited my needs for the most part; I found one that was reasonably priced, but it has since sold. I was looking at other options, like the Ford Fusion...nothing good around here for that model though.
I found a 2006 Mercury Montego, which was only made for 2005-2007 production years if I recall, and is almost a exact replica of the Ford Five Hundred. It has a ton of extra features and is within my price range. I can't find too much info about it though as it was only produced for a few years and it doesn't sound like there's too many of them on the road. There does not appear to be any recalls, and most "car problem reporting" websites don't even have it listed. Does anyone know much about this model? Anyone who has a Ford Five Hundred (V6 AWD) would help too - the engine, transmission, body, and most other core components are identical.
Aside from my requirements above on the car itself, one of my focuses is adequate acceleration. Any info on that would help, too. I don't need something that goes 0-60 in 3 seconds, but I don't want it to take 15 seconds to get to highway speed either. As much as I would love to have a car with a bit more power, it's not really within my price range right now. I'm concerned with safety too, but it sounds like I'm covered as far as that goes.
Any assistance with other comparable cars would be appreciated, too. I haven't really locked in a specific make/model right now, I'm still browsing. I'm looking to buy within the next month or so.
