    Default Screwed my manifold up.

Damnit. I'm not exactly sure what happened. My friend and me went to the liquor store early yesterday and decided to take an alternate/shorter route back home. Well, we just got several inches of rain, and one road that we needed to take had a couple of feet of water standing on it. That's not even anywhere near the doors on my truck, so it obviously wasn't in the engine compartment. After getting half way down this road, stupid me, decided it would be fun to start going about 40 mph through it. This is when something screwed the manifold up. I don't know if maybe the cold water splashing all over the hot manifold did something, or maybe just getting on it did the damage. I haven't even got around to looking at it just yet. It sounds like there is a damn hole in the passenger side manifold, though. Sounds terrible.

I hope it's nothing too expensive to fix.

cold water on hot metal = damage every time.

I've never encountered that problem in my life. I've been through countless creeks, with no issues whatsoever.

The manifold is old and rusted in spots, so that's probably what gave.

Madness. I can not believe that the water caused a hole.

It's been really nasty weather wise around here with stroms and what not, so I haven't got around to looking at it just yet. I'll have to pull it in the garage tomorrow and see what exactly happened. Right after it happened, I did look at it quickly, but couldn't identify exactly where the air was shooting out from. I had a bolt rust through a manifold before, and it sounds similar to when that happened.

@ DUI, yes, I will definitely do that. It could be the header rather than the manifold itself.

Could be anything between the manifold and the muffler... hopefully not the catalytic converter!! There are hot exhaust parts that will get wet before the engine does...

The catalytic converter is one thing that can be ruled out. I don't have one, lol.

I think your right. It found the weak spot.

Probably. I've still been too busy to even look at it just yet. Plus, we've been dealing with tornados and what not ripping through my area.

My truck actually came from Alaska of all places; consequently, there are quite a few areas that have rusted on the underside of the truck, including the manifolds and exhaust system. Salt does bad, bad things to vehicles!
