Default Whatcha think of my car? (large pictures)

Go ahead and laugh at my car. Its a 5sp 1995 mazda protege with 106K. It has a K&N air filter, B&G sport suspension, and cat-back exhaust. I got it with 86K. So far, minor tune-ups have been done, but really cheap to keep operating! 20K in 1 year, only needed new front bearings, and a hole on the down pipe got re-welded.

So what do you guys think/suggest. I dont like rice. I want a set of rims, but I dont want to put too much into the car, but it depends, I'd be willing to give more for performance. Maybe used? Thanks for tips/hints/jokes/crap/etc.

Also, if anyone knows of anything of common problem with these cars, let me know. Ive drivin it for a year and a half and had little to no problems, with 20K, I think the worst was the alternator, but thats why its a 5 sp.

Hey man nice car, I like the non-rice look. You could really get some rims on there and just make sure they arent 'rice like' and it will look good.

BTW: Gotta have the Manual

Yeah, get a nice set of rims, and keep them factory looking, check Mazda web site and check out what they have to offer as far as styles, just to get a look of types of "factory" style.

I put an amp and sub in it before, but my friends system got stolen and so I sold it. I am waiting to find a good deal on door and rear speakers tho.

I do want some rims, I want some 15" gunmetal black 5 spoke, or maybe an aluminum 5 spoke wheel. (I think the brushed aluminum is a better stock look though) If I did get rims, I would want a set for around 5-600, which I know isnt much, but like I said, I dont want to put alot into it.

My moms car is a 05 volvo s60, she proudly has 2 speeding tickets because of it, and still calls me a bad driver.

Thanks for the input so far!

Oh yeah? Look at the little number I scored today. I paid nothing for it, though I did help the PO move out of her apartment (took me 6 hours today in the rain! :x )

1991 900 S with a bad headgasket, 233 000 miles, a crummy reverse gear and very little rust (but punched in the RR side but easy to pop out).

I did have to put the alternator back together so it would run, and it took forever to dig it out of her backyard (lots of snow), but in the alley behind her house I found a nice 205/55/16 tire! Almost new!

Anyway suffice to say I'm pleased for the moment.

That's a decent little Mazda you got there. Up in Montreal that car would sell for over $2000 especially if not rusty. They like their imports...

Probably the biggest issue with a Mazda is the automatic tranny. And you're...

I'd probably want to get something a little peppier than the little 1,5 litre instead of putting big money into it. The 1,8 Protege ES from that era were pretty peppy with the 5-vit.

I have heard that the auto trannys that came with the protege's 1.5 made the car feel like a geo metro. I find the 5 sp mated with the 1.5L engine is very do-able. Maybe some boost in it and it could get interesting. I have heard of my 5sp being able to hold almost 200 hp as a daily driver without problems.

Oh ya, It has NO rust. (except for a tiny bit on a door ding from some a-hole before I bought the car. nothing a little touch-up w/dub d 40 cant fix)

SmaartAasSaabr, Nice car, hell for free too!

No one has noticed that in my nicknames picture I dont have tint, but in the other pictures I do.

I like these rims, in my price range and look nice. It will match the 20% tint.
