I say this because here in Canuk land there isn't always multi lanes going up a hill, many times there's one lane and some SOB is holding up traffic so he can save 20 cents in fuel.

While I agree with you in regards to impeeding traffic. If you are going to drive to save MPG's pass when you need to pass and then get in the slow lane if you are going to go slower up a hill, correct

    Not exactly on topic but...

On a 35mph double lane heavy traffic road I drive everyday there is one section that goes slight downhill then back up again. In traffic the lead car is doing 45 but slightly starts to slow down going back up the very slight uphill. Once you get back to about the 10th car in the traffic it comes to a completely STOP at the bottom of the hill and everyone is about to rear end someone. This happens everyday driving home from work.
This sort of thing happens if you try to go on a long drive with cruise control on, say 75 mph. You get on a downhill, and the rest of traffic starts to flow past you, then, on an uphill, everyone slows, although you are going exactly the same speed the whole time. People even think you're passing them to make a point. So I don't use cruise control, I drive 95 and pass EVERYONE, problem solved.

I was fueling my VW Diesel a few years back, and talked to some lady with a Prius. She said she got around 35 mph, and I was glad to boast of my average 42 mpg. The reason for her demise on economy was terrain - we live in Santa Cruz Mountains, and there is NOTHING flat about it, so the engine is almost always running, not the battery.
