For cheap, a Chevy Cobalt is not expensive at all when compared to some of the others. I picked min up for 7000 dollars with 50k miles on it. Unless you go with the SS model, the computer will not let you go over 100 to 115. If that's OK, it gets about 20 to 25 MPG at 90.

If you did go this way, I think the SS would be more to your liking.

You do realize that Honda makes Acura? Honda is one of the few companies that gets racing development to market quickly. Take the VTEC valving on Honda/Acura engines, that was race developed and hit the market relatively quickly. I'd say a Honda is built for speed for extended periods as well as any other!

I am not a fan of Honda. They crumble like a tin can at just about any speed. I think the most bang for your buck is definitely Lexus. They make a safe reliable fast car at a really good price.

A couple other cars would be Infinity or Acura.
Yes I am aware of who owns Acura. I have had a little over 30 cars to date. I wish I had saved my money an invested in property instead of cars!

I have had 2 Acura’s. (Legend and Integra GTR) both great cars. (3 Mustang GT's. Cheap car with a lot of power; Sabb 900 turbo & 9000 not a car I would recommend) I was also the proud owner of a 91 Mitsubishi 3000 turbo. This car is definitely on the top 5 list for best cars that I have owned.

I have never been on an accident scene where a Honda was involved and walked away thinking that the Honda did great in the crash.

Honda has been a choice of cars among young people for several years. They get great gas mileage and extremely reliable. That being said I have been on dozens of dozens of accidents where the driver was indeed driving a Honda. In so many instances had the driver been driving a safer car that could absorb the impact rather then the occupants absorbing the impact, I would not have had to tell the parents that their son/daughter died as a result of a MVA.

Where do you guys drive that you can go 120mph all day long? I almost never find a rabbit that fast.

Edit. Fastest rabbit I can remember was a motorcycle doing 100 but got pulled over a few minutes after he passed me. Besides that the best I've had is 90mph only for a 10 or so miles.

I suspect they are without rabbits. I don't go that fast, but I can tell you that it is rare for me to find one that will even do 90. I can count on my fingers how many rabbits I have had over 100 in my lifetime so far.

Your "rabbits" are the truckers on the CB and blind faith, basically. It's been my experience that once you hit 85 and up you're pretty much on your own.

My Acura saved my ass, 75+ into the dead end of a guardrail and a few flips later I landed right side up and only had to spend a couple days in the hospital so they could keep an eye on me and nothing broken. In my experience hondas are very safe cars.

in my current acura, Ive driven 1,100+ miles in about 13 hours averaging 80-85 with spurts up to the speeds you talk of OP and I still got 28-30 mpg, one passenger and trunk full of gear, ac on. If you want cheap thats reliable, honda/acura would be a good choice, but they arnt fast, just quick.

Would you agree that there is a big difference between Acura and Honda?

I could think of someone else to thank more then Acura for saving your ass going that fast to a dead end street or guardrail.

ill agree hondas arent really made to take an impact (at least not the older ones) but for some people crashing isn't an option while driving
    for example motorcyclists
