Default Insurance company monitoring your car!

Progressive has a new product called Snapshot that plugs into your diagnotic port and monitors how, when, and where you drive. Supposedly they will not raise your insurance based off this info and will only lower your premium if the driving qualifies as below average risk. I wonder if I'd qualify for a discount...no way in HELL! They'd cancel me as fast as they could.

The ONLY reason for a device like that is to INCREASE your rates. F*** them.

I would disconnect my negative battery terminal before bringing my car in for the check. **** them and their data!

Looks like it graphs your speed & measures Hard Brakes!

Pretty soon people will be so paranoid of braking hard, they will just get into an accident instead!

Serriously, if they attached this thing to my car I would take it out on a track and reach tripple digits....

Another day, I would do ABS brake testing===> Maybe 20+ hard brakes... just to screw with the people who read the data.

I might put it on Grandma's car that stays parked in the garadge... She always drives under the speed limit and is at wierd hours of the day, so she would get me a big discount.

You know what's funny... literally 15 minutes ago, I was out on some deserted country road braking to a stop from different speeds. Deer season is coming up and I think it's important to practice. I wonder what Progressive would think of that...

I wouldn't trust anyone who hasn't braked hard in their lives before.

Sometimes I do this just to test my ABS, ESC, & BA features of the car... Got to make sure the car & driver (me) are in tip-top shape to stop.

    When I replace my pads, I pump a few times. Then I gently stop from 10 to 0, 20 to 0, 30 to 0, 40 ... 50, ... 60... Each time I let it cool a minute before doing the next one.

Finally, on some open rode with no traffic behind or in front, I will take the car to 60 and smash the brake pedal to the floor leaving rubber all over the road and brake dust on the rims.

I wouldn't trust anybody who doesn't do some hard braking.

So recalibrate your speedometer to always read around 40% lower and wire up a disconnect switch for your OBD2 and you'll be good to go.
