So i'm thinking about getting the Cheetah GPS Mirror to supplement my V1 and Blinder M45. I've done some preliminary research and the decision comes down to whether there are enough red light/speed camera traps in South Florida to merit the expense. I also travel quite a bit to Orlando, Fl. to visit family. I haven't noticed many of these but then again, I ain't lookin' too hard either.....
Cheetah person (allyoops) - is there any way I can find out how many there are in those respective locations? Is the Trinity database available to the public (my guess is "no")?. If not, no specifics needs as I know this information is probably proprietary. I'd just like to get a flavor of how many in the Miami/Orlando area. Are there plans in the area to "upgrade" to these?
To the rest of the folks who may already have one - does this device really work as adverstised! It looks really slick!
Thanks

Even with no speed cameras and hardly any redlight cameras in my area (yet) the mirror still is on of my favourite things I've ever bought. It's worth the other features alone.

This is a *highly* effective, proactive, safety-tool for RLCs (especially considering the increased accident statistics around such) and speed-cameras. It's not a "defeat" for those cameras - but it lets you navigate them in a much, much safer context, by alerting you to them with plenty of leeway to adjust your driving behavior.
I love mine.

Orlando has 7 intersections covered and is raking in the cash. Florida will be full of cameras in the next year.
Google is your friend.
Better than Google,
Florida is about to become one of the most photo enforced states in the nation. Expect it to hit big around major cities like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tampa & Jacksonville.
Here are some of the FL cities that we monitor for the Trinity Database - some like Orlando, Tampa, Apopka, Aventura, Port Richey, Pembroke Pines and Palm Coast have red light cameras already, the rest will start to instal them within 3 to 6 months.
thanks to both for your input. Sorry about having parallel threads (I know it's not good form) but wanted to cover my bases as I didn't see too much traffic on the Cheetah sub-forum.

^ No problem - just wanted to avoid the "information leak" that could happen, with parallel threads.

Sometimes that's a good thing.
means we're doing things right with regular database updates and overall happy customers.
I've only lived in Miami for three years, but it's my understanding that at one time the city added a bunch of RLCs and the accident rate skyrocketed. Supposedly the city did the smart thing for once and took them down because suddenly half of the crappy drivers were stomping the brakes on a yellow.
Being a SoFla driver, you know how red lights are treated around here, but for everyone else, it's almost as if there are two stages of red. Right after it changes, one, two, three and occasionally more cars will go through, often not even bothering to speed up to make it through quickly.
I always warn visitors from out of town never to stop for a yellow light unless they want to be rear ended, to check their rearview before slamming on the brakes to stop for a red, and to look both ways before proceeding on green if they're the first vehicle to go through the intersection.
