Default 9500i shift link question

OK so I live literally less than 10 minutes from DFW airport, something like the 2nd or 3rdlargest airport in the US. . . anyways I laser false every day I drive past it with the 9500. . . so im thinking of shutting down the laser sensor on the 9500 by seting it to off, now the question is will this have any effect on the ZR4, I dont think so, but I thought it would be prudent to ask

I believe that is a seperate function in the menu. I am surprised your Zr4 does not go off?

Hi Arashi666,

The ZR4 works independently even though it talks to an attached Bel or Escort RD. Thus the ZR4 doesn't care if you turn off your RD's laser detection.

I do have an interesting test for you to try. The idea is to see if your 9500i is truly detecting laser or if really high frequency (way above Ka band) microwave energy is either slipping past the 9500i's RF laser shielding or getting into other parts of the RD's circuitry. The test is simple. Park in a location where your 9500i is falsing on laser. Then cover the 9500i's front antenna cover and its rear laser sensor with black electrical tape and see if the laser falses go away or if they persist.

I am just curious as to what the results of this little test will be.
