Earlier this week, I was driving down a frontage road when I saw two Louisiana State Troopers on the highway, pointing a radar gun at the oncoming traffic. My radar detector, the Cobra ESD 8200, didn't seem to detect the radar. I was going to the bank which is on the other side of the highway, and I basically drove all the way around them without ever getting an alert from the ESD 8200.
The question I really have is, does the heat really get to them? My dad used to have detectors but then said that leaving them inside a closed car breaks them. I used to take it out, but that became a pain, so I would turn it off and leave it in. I know some people who leave them on all the time, but I don't. I did by accident one day, though.
Does the heat really damage them? Do you think the Cobra is broken? Thanks in advance.
