Most enjoyable and informative read about the Cobra. I even went back and reread your evaluation of the V1. Super good job on both accounts.

I can’t believe how expensive some of the Cobras are.... wow I figured $100 for there top one. Why spend $400 on a cobra when you can get a top RD for the same price.

So basically, this new Cobra radar detector does all kinds of neat things, with the exception of consistently detect radar? Hmmm.

Yeah, kinda like buying a GPS navigation system which has a ton of neat features yet has major flaws like telling you to turn the wrong way on a one-way street or like telling you to take unpaved or dirt roads to reach your destination.

I wonder if Cobra has made any attempt to improve reception for Ka 35.5 radar since other Cobra models are essentially all but dead to detecting Ka 35.5 from any decent distance.

Still, the review was well written and an enjoyable read.

They do good marketing. If you look at Best Buy's lineup where they have the Escorts next to the Cobras, honestly like every Cobra looks better than the Escorts and the sales associates often even recommend a 99xx Cobra!

That's how I was lured into buying my first Cobra. I didn't think it was important to research a radar detector so I just went out to Best Buy and picked one. Spent $100, what I thought was reasonable, on a Cobra and put it on. Since it seemed to detect some cops I figured I was getting the expected range and warning that everyone else got. Boy did every detector I get after that disprove my beliefs!

hi to all I am new to this forum, and I very undecided about which detector to get. The new cobra seems nice, but I've read some reviews and the escort 9500i and valentine one seems to be the top preformers. Should I consider the New cobra XRS R9G. Or what about valentine one or escort. Thanks

Cobra's are inconsistent.

Go with a V1 (if you drive highway alot) or 9500i (if you drive in the city alot)
