I had a Cobra 9775 then later that month to took it back. The 9775 has pop but it has a ton of false alerts with it. Donít get me wrong it does have some nice features like voice and compass. I currently have a Escort x50 8500 and it way out performs the cobra I wish I had a TV tuner on my computer so I could show how much more range it has.

Well when you factor the 273 different "bands" on it you'd think "POP" would be in there...

I e mailed cobra about that detector .

I saw a cobra radar detector model xrs-777 in walmart .

    cobra's response

It is the same as the XRS 9700. The Model # number used XRS 777 is just for Walmart stores.

Gotta love Wally World, but personally I'd go towards a low-end Bel.

Lol I also had an 777 (also took it back to wal-mart) even though cobra said it was the same I tested and it has a little bit shorter range (NOT MUCH) So if I were you I would go with the xrs777 but Iím telling you should save some more money and get an Escort X50 ITS WELL WORTH IT as I said once before I wish I had an TV tuner so I could show you the big difference.

Well to you Cobra owners thinking of UPGRADING to an X50 let me be the first to warn you. You will not have a digital compass in the X50 model. I know you cant believe it, but its true. You may ask yourself how can I live without a compass in my radar detector? Answer: I dont know. I usually know what direction im headed!
