Oh I just couldn't help it. I wanted something new. I attended a driver safety refresher given by a state trooper yesterday and half the class ended up being on avoiding speeding tickets.
So I bought a Cobra just to have a toy to play with. I've lurked on here ever since my saab forum had a big radar discussion maybe 6 mos ago. This site is great. I think I've got a fellow member or two on here.
Just so y'all don't think I'm just another guy with a nice car and a Crapra, I used to have a remote-mounted Super Fox that was originally mounted back in the day when it was state of the art, lol. It had an on/off/volume knob and a "squelch" knob with one or two little LEDs. But man, it caught some radar with it's funny little two-tone chirp. It also went crazy in the grocery store parking lots. But that's ancient history. Later on, I had a nice Bel I bought around '96 or so. I was still young and after selling the Bimmer I wanted to have a detector even though I barely ever sped.
Well, the Bel is in a box somewhere (I think) and like I said, I just bought one of those ultra-cheapo Cobras just to have something newish. I commute 100 miles a day and even though I don't really speed, I just like being nosy and knowing where the troopers are. I know, good luck...The more I lurk the more I get to pining for the high-end "real" detectors. Are any of the remote mounted Beltronics any good these days? I miss the stealth factor of my old Fox. Maybe I should have posted this in the Bel forum but I couldn't resist letting y'all take a shot at me for buying a Cobra. At least it doesn't point at the sky......
