So, two weeks ago for my birthday one of my friends got me a Cobra ESD-7000. I installed it in my A6 and it seemed to be working well - I'd pickup a bunch of false alerts from shopping plazas and other random things, but being new to the scene, expected such things to be normal from what I'd heard. Additionally, I had never actually encountered a cop on the highway after the installation, and did not know it's true functionality.
Well, two days ago I'm in Pittsburgh on 279s, doing about 90. I see ahead of me that a crown vic with 5% tint was pulled over behind an explorer. Figured the explorer had gotten busted, and the cop was busy with him.
Turns out, I was right, BUT, the cop was also busy with me!
I slowed down, and as I was getting off at my exit, I was lit up and told I was doing at 84 in a 55. Thankfully, I only received a verbal warning because I told him I was en route to a gas station (which I was) because I was about to run out of gas (which I was) and was coasting down the hill (haha). Well, then, he proceeds to tell me that he TAGGED me doing 84, which was a shock to me... My radar didn't go off once...
Then, today, I'm going the opposite direction home, and am on the phone, cruising at what I thought was 70ish. Then, after 6 miles of being on the interstate, I am about to get off at my exit, and I see flashing lights.
My detector didn't go off ONCE.... Then, as if that wasn't bad enough, I'm told I was doing 80! So much for any preventative measures.
I played dumb though, and said my cruise was on at 70. THEN, two other state police officers come, a slicktop and a K9 SUV. Thank god my ****ing car didn't get searched...
I didn't get points, but did recieve a 100 citation for "disobeying the posted limit". Thank f*ck I wasn't in a hurry!
Is there anyone else here who has this unit? When I got it, it looked like a quality product, and the manual conveyed that as well...
Should I even bother keeping this? Now I don't trust it for ****.
