Default Running a cobra trapshooter micro...

Running a cobra trapshooter micro only x and k bands to cut down on the falsing in town...Works better it seems on those two bands against falsing than an 9500i... It just doesn't false in city mode.. The low pass filters must be something else...

Lord I had one of those years ago! Brings back memories! But I'd be afraid to rely on it!

Default Old/vintage although yet impressive for the price/city drive

Actually strikingly the thing works very well? I had one years ago so decided to snag one and try it out and compare against my new tech.. Well it didn't beat my v1/x50/sti ofcourse on k band or anything... but it did fair quite well... it picked up the k band just after my x50 did and not by very far... i'd say less within 100ft difference.... Works better in the city for filtering out the garbage it seems and picking up a Legit threat that has to be extremely strong. THe city mode on this low end unit actually works extremely well! So well it filters out the garbage better than a 9500i... ALthough it still seems to maintain sensitivity to legit radar threats which is impressive and amazing for such an old dated unit.

Now this detector is only x, k band only but if k in your city is the major threat it seems it actually could stand to save you more, as remember other high end sensitive units will merely false all the time in town even the 9500i.... you have to program the garbage out. And even then you still get startled by the spinning display and your like wow... Well with this thing i have been very pleased that whenever it goes off it's not a leaky unit in town, not a store, its a leo always.... It didn't even go off to a known rite aid k band false nor a walgreens false! Impressive in my book especially since they are right across the street from one another... If your bored and live in the city and their running k band i highly suggest giving it a try... That way heres my theory, ya in town i may be missing ka band... Which here is a threat.. But im doing this for testing purposes only... and my theory is this, if the city uses k band, which they all do here in a high false area. Atleast this way i have a way to get notified of the STRONGER precense of Leo's, because the county and state ya they are there, but not for long. And rarely most often just driving to the e-way. So to each his own but im actually enjoying testing this out, what i've been doing is runnig this trapshooter in town k band false he** then i turn it off and the v1 on for the open road.. WORKS GREAT! Infact i haven't got not one false in 3 weeks of testing!!

Well if K is that prevalent... You know I read somewhere (might have been here I don't remember) that older detectors get better range on X and K than todays detectors. This because todays detectors tend to filter X and K out more (due to all the falses on these bands) and are more concerned with Ka. So an older detector whose only job was to sniff out X and K only back in the day I could see getting better range on those bands...makes sense.
