I got a cobra for free... hmmm

I just got a Cobra ESD 8200 from my grandparents (they somehow found it deep inside a closet in the house)

I havent ever used a radar detector before and right now I dont have enough money to buy some of the higher end, better ones....
I've heard mixed responses about Cobras but im not sure if its worth spending money on the mounting bracket and power adapter(since its missing them).

What do you guys think? Buy the stuff and use it? or am i better off without it?

Well... What state do you live in? If its one of the states that uses Ka band or Laser heavily, it won't help you much. By the way, a Cobra (or any detector for that matter) is not a license to speed.

Last ticket I got (knock on wood) years ago was Ka with a cobra... false sense of security...

I have the same one, waste of time/money. The only thing that sometimes works is xband with walgreens or stores. Never got a good signal yet. If I were you, just save up for something good and don't waste your money on buying the accesories for it.
