That's right. I did buy a Cobra. A Cobra XRS 9985 (Radio Shack version of the 9930). Good thing was, I got it for $79.99 brand new. With a price like that, I can't say no.. Nice features and everything. I haven't really used it yet. I've only set it up with the compass and all that IntelliMute thing.. I'll be testing it today though. Lets see how it performs. Can't be as bad as people say right..? I'll keep you guys updated though. Wish me luck!

I hope they don't use 35.5Ka radar in your neck of the woods. 35.5Ka is the second most popular radar frequency after 34.7Ka, yet Cobras in general are all but dead when it comes to detecting 35.5Ka. You will figure out that your Cobra is detecting 35.5Ka when it only begins to alert once you are within a few hundred feet of the radar gun.

I wish you luck! Have fun testing it and let us know what you think. At least you can return it to RS for a refund within 30 days.

True. And I wish I had the 30 days. But I didn't buy it from Radio Shack. Just bought the version made for RS. Hell, I work at RS. It's $219.99 in my store..

I'll see what's up with this RD. Ah, I only spend $80. If anything, I'll just go back to my Escort, which was stolen.

Hopefully somehow you can get your money back? If so, then contact Roy and maybe he can get you a good deal on either a Bel V940 or a Whistler Pro78 through radarbusters. I hate to see you driving with a Cobra RD since eventually you will get nailed by 35.5Ka radar.

Makes me wonder why you would come in here, read what all the experts say, read all the bad **** about a Cobra, then say, HMMM, I think I will buy one.

Shoulda came to my town today! I was following a LEO car to see what dash mounted equipment he had in the car but nothing. He speeds ahead and pulls over to the right side of the road, gets out of the car to IO Ka everyone coming over the bridge in one of the usual speed trap locations. Didn't take long as he stopped one customer after another and my RD got its workout as I went back and made couple extra passes through the trap.
