    Default Cobra 9440 Video

YouTube - Cobra 9440 Radar Detector

I bought this with low expectations and it certainly passed my expectations. I'm going to buy a Pro-78 for Ka superwide band since the 9440 is a bit weaker on Ka than K. Most of the cops around here use Ka with some using K. I'll keep both in my car since the Cobra doesn't leak (fixed in 2008 models?) tested with a valentine 1 right next to it and in another car next to me.

The video is a K band speed trap I don't know how far away, but it's a decent distance. The first time this was found, I had no clue it was there and it warned me before I could see it.

I also have another video coming the opposite way where K band is not being thrown forward.

That range was not that impressive it's k-band..... Oh and on the other part Bad Idea (Period) Even thought the V1 was not alerting to it. It's internal filtering was canceling it out which could cause you to miss an alert if run together. This is why no one recommends running two radars together. Even with high end ones the only one you can run in combo is a sti, sti-r, 9500ci. That is it.

I think it's pretty decent. And for $79.99, I don't know if you can get better. Sure it's not a Valentine 1 and it isn't going to give me an alert from 15 miles away where I don't even really need it.

Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself ITS NOT THAT BAD. Have you ever had a real RD so you have some comparison? I guess it all depends on what your expectations are in a RD. I personally could never drive fast when relying on a $79.00 detector no matter what brand.

I got an old POS beltronics at a ponshop for $30 that did better at K band than that did. Plus that's just constant on (C/O) radar.

This is where all cobra users get confused, they think they have enough protection from what they see with C/O radar, but C/O doesn't matter (ESPECAIALY 35.5 KA, WITCH COBRAS ARE BLIND TO!!!) because you have to have alot of sensitivity to detect what really matters -- I/O radar, or 35.5 Ka.

My buddies V1 picks it up only a few seconds before the cobra and it's a 40mph street. A few seconds is nothing. If you were on the highway doing 85 in a 55, then sure, a few seconds is everything.

That was horrible for K band. At that distance, the LEO would have easily had your speed.

I got hit with instant on tonight from behind. It was Ka, had no clue where the cop was, but it hit 4 and then shut off. There was no cop in front of me at all.

I think you all underestimate Cobra and haven't even tried out their new 2008 models. Cobra is a cheap brand, sure, nowhere near as good as a V1, Escort, or Bel. But it does the job for me most of the time. It's saved me a few times already and I pick up leo before I can even see them.

Yet again we all see why the V1 has outperformed your "RD". (I do not consider Cobra to be legitimate). If you had arrows, you would have known where he was exactly. Ken, please stop trying to convince us that Cobra is a good detector, even at the low price. It is low priced for a reason and one reason alone, and that is marketing. Not because it works as good as the best, or even midrange detectors. You will not convince us, but keep getting contrary remarks because we know how well the best work, because we have studied this stuff, and had personal experience not to mention all of the RD tests that have been done. If you are truly interested in a good detector for a decent price, you will listen to the pros.

Alright, but I don't wish to dish out $450 for a Valentine 1. Radar Detection is pretty pointless around here anyways. Cops NEVER have their radar on except some at night that leave it on for no reason. During the day it's impossible to get anything on Radar besides speed cameras and speed traps.

I sure hope the Pro-78 is a VERY noticeable difference.

The Cobra is a legitimate radar detector as seen in my video. Radar Roy gave Cobras 9700 (discontinued) an excellent rating placing 2nd in Ka detection at around 10 miles. I forgot who was first, probably something other than a V1 since I've never seen his video's with a V1.
