    2. here in the states i bought a universal hardwire kit, should be 12v

    3. i am not sure about greece, i dont think its a international radar detector

    What model do you have?

Honest opinion: cobras are not good detectors

Return the Crapra and get an RX-65 or V1 if you need a detector in Greece. If you need one in the US, return the Crapra and go with either the V1 or the X50. Crapras will not protect you from anything--the only reason I'd ever suggest somebody get one is if they really don't speed more than 5-7 over, and just need a detector as a reminder from time to time.

Or if I don't like them.

Greece has photo radar, and both the RX-65 and the X50 would probably give poor performance against it.

So, you might want either a V1 with Euro mode, or one of the BEL international models with the Ka narrow option, such as the Bel Target EURO 550, 966, or 990i.

Professor Jim has the right idea here, you need to get either a V1 or a Bel with Ka Narrow options. The Bel Target Euro 550 might be good option for you. The 966R has also been shown to be extremely effective against photo radar.

(BTW JIM - the 990i only has accusweep ala USA mode, not the one for photo radar).

Actually, you can put it into "Travel Mode", where you can turn on or off 10 different bands, including photo radar. In fact, you can choose to sweep ONLY photo radar if you want:

For the Greek friend: visit the site: www.bloka.com which describes the means of the Greek police. I'll give you an idea here:

    1. Gatso cameras fixed using piezoelectric lanes (the detectors are useless) or using K band radars.

    2. mini-Gatsos usually set in front of unmarked police cars. They use Ku band.

    3. Gatsos inside police cars, marked or unmarked. They use K band radar.

    4. Lidars at 99% (Ultralyte most of them, and ProLaser III, but very small numbers) and old X band guns in some forgotten villages in the country.

As a Bel 550 user, I am not that objective, but I think the best detector for the moment is the Bel 966, which is also undetectable as the police here doesn't have RDD. My next choice would be Bel 550, an ideal detector for the cameras. Finally, the V1 is an all time classic, but rarelly seen here in Greece (the price is high you see, and no retailler to sell it). I still wait for a test / comparison between 550 and V1 to see which one is best. If you could have a 550 in US you could test it against V1 using Euro mode.

To give you an idea: My 550 detects speed signs at about 500-1100m (depending the terrain, weather, road, hills, turns etc), when the same signs are detected by the well known Snooper S5-R (known in Europe of course) 100-300m later.

Last summer, I detected an old X band gun from 1,5Km (rather flat terrain with some turns, trees etc) when used against other drivers, and I had a constant signal about 500m away when the cop had it in stand by mode (these guns are connected to the power supply of the police car so the LO works all the time).

As for the lasers, I'm lucky and I haven't been the target until now. But, even when targeting vehicles on the opposite lane, and I drove as left as possible, I had no warning = no reflections. So, I can't say anything about this feature. The V1 I believe is better and I'll buy one the very first moment I buy my new car.

    Thnx for your time.
