Hmm.. On my Redline when I press mute, and the signal is picked up again at the same frequency it stays muted.
Yeah, I posted before fully understanding the scenario. My issue is that it stops alerting before I can get my finger on the button, then it comes back a few seconds later... multiple times... eluding my attempts to mute it.
Hmm.. On my Redline when I press mute, and the signal is picked up again at the same frequency it stays muted.
The Redline is far, FAR more sensitive to off-axis signals than the RX65 (and even the V1). Thus it will hang on to the false and stay muted if you mute it. The RX65 will pick up the alert, drop it, pick it up again, which can be annoying, but OTOH the RX65 will false less in town.
If you drive in the city a lot and falses are an issue, you'll want a RD with GPS like the 9500ix/9500ci/GX65.

LEOs don't have quotas. They're called "performance goals".
If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

What I've noticed is that it doesn't necessarily false less, just at a lesser strength and less consistently so I can't mute it.
So, practically, falses are less annoying on a more sensitive detector.
That was the one thing that would set me off on cobras. lol. I would be sitting in a parking lot and it would alert to Ka. So im looking around like an idiot trying to find a leo. I pull away and the alert goes away. Once i got a laser alert for an X band security system. lol. Im glad im getting a 9500ix.

Speaking of the 9960G. I have had some interesting results running these two together. The STI-R is mounted in the part of my bumper where there is a clear view of the road. I mounted my Cobra high near the RVM. I've had times where they alerted at the exact same time, other times the STI-R alerts about 30 seconds to 45 seconds before the Cobra. The Cobra alerted about 1 second before the STI-R yesterday. But that was the only encounter it did.
I did have an instant on encounter too. 33.8 ka band. The Cobra missed every shot up until about a mile from the officer. The STI-R picked up the first shot at 1.5 miles according my odometer. The Cobra sometimes misidentified the shot as K band though.
Overall, the Cobra seems to be doing decently. This platform that Cobra has recently been using is certainly an improvement over past Cobras. They still have some polishing and some work to do on sensitivity though.

I still hope for the day that Cobra makes a platform that we can look at and say, "Wow, this actually comes pretty close to our V1/Belscort." Simple reason: you know it'll be a $300 detector, and it might finally bring the price of the top-end models down from the $400-500 range.
And, hey, if Cobra makes a $300-range detector that's that impressive, I might just buy it.
