Whats up with the mounting.. seriously??

Why is it whenever I see a youtube vid (exception of a couple) of a cobra user, they mount it on the bottom left or right of the windshield basically pointed at the shoulder? I realize some users have a good sense of where to put it but what is it they are trying to do?

This was not started to flame cobra users, i just am really curious.

Simple, they are dumb

If they knew anything about RDs, they wouldn't have a Cobra in the first place.

i have a neighbor that has it mounted behind the windshield wiper pointed down at the hood...

Other companies manuals provide input on proper mounting, Cobra says stick the suction cups on the windshield.

Trying to keep it stealth in the little corner of the A pillar and dashboard?

Detector mounts really need to accommodate being placed somewhere other than exactly equidistant from the sides of the windshield...

Yeah my curved windshield all but rules out the suction mount for my V1; same goes for the GFs 8500, forunately we've both got cars that we can adapt the visor mounts to the headliner, which also gets the look at e thief suction marks off the windshield.

If they read their manual they wouldn't mount it like that. My 9960G's manual gives proper mounting instructions.

I just went through the cobra website looking at the online manuals and of all the different models I looked at, here are the 3 main types of instructions given-

It seems that only the newest type makes any mention of being parallel to the road’s surface, all the others just say that you can adjust the angle, but don't tell you what the optimal adjustment is...
